Modernization
In early 1998 a change began to come to Mexibrookia. The economy was still weak and suffering from the Canadian Invasion in 1993. In these desperate times the Mexibrookians looked for what ever they could to strengthen their economy. As such West Mexibrookia began to modernize. Mexibrookia had
in the past accepted assorted bits of technology and such from the neighboring areas.
But now West Mexibrookia had decided to join the rest of the world in the age of technology.
Middle Mexibrookia is, of course, where the ancient temple and the temple
priests reside. From there the priests watch over Mexibrookia and try to keep
the peace. Middle Mexibrookia was so deeply saturated with traditional Mexibrookian
values that they wouldn’t accept the even the smallest bit of the modernization.
As such the modernization never got to East Mexibrookia.
However, West Mexibrookia continued accepting new ideas and technologies regardless.
In early 1999 West Mexibrookia began to become
industrialized. This greatly cut down on Mexibrookia International Trade. As the Western Mexibrookian wealth grew the traditional Mexibrookian
dollar began to lose value. The traditional Mexibrookian dollar was a tenth of
the Neo-Mexibrookian dollar. International Trade between West and Middle/ East
Mexibrookia became difficult. The aristocratic class Mexibrookian
was born in West Mexibrookia during this time. Only poor
farmers and clergy men resided in Middle/ East Mexibrookia.
Trade Disputes and the Eastern Ore Discovery
As time went on currency disputes began to arise over International Trade
matters. Neo-Mexibrookian currency was worth much more than traditional Mexibrookian
currency.
One day an East Mexibrookian man by the name of Bill El Gatos, a poor hunter/ trader that barley kept his family
fed, was hunting him some food. Suddenly up through the ground came bubbling
crude. Oil that is. The next thing
you know East Mexibrookia is sitting on the largest crude oil discovery in Mexibrookian history. Bill now owns and operates the Bill Gatos East Mexibrookian Oil Company. Now East Mexibrookia had something that West Mexibrookia
needed and they could price it as they pleased.
A price was set on the international trade of the oil. Middle and West Mexibrookia was charged the exact same number. If Middle Mexibrookia bought a thousand dollars of oil they paid a thousand traditional dollars, and if
West Mexibrookia bought a thousand dollars worth they paid a thousand neo-dollars. Seeing as the dollar value of the neo-dollar was greater than that of the traditional dollar, the West
Mexibrookians paid more for x-amount of oil than Middle Mexibrookia did for the same amount. The trade disputes only got worse. The people
decided it was time for Royal Intervention, and went to El Viagra Needer (Mexibrookian King) for an answer. El Viagra Needer consulted a temple priest by the name of El Rojo on what to do. They decided that, because of Mexibrookia’s extremely small size, importing oil from America would arouse too much unwanted attention. There
for the International Oil Trade must stand. El Rojo also predicted that if the
Eastern Mexibrookias were made to change their prices then Middle/ East Mexibrookia might see the move as the support of modernism, and that could lead to a Civil War.
El Viagra Needer addressed the people and proclaimed that no imported oil would be accepted and that the East Mexibrookian
Oil prices would remain as is. He announced that this situation was necessary
in keeping the economy from slipping further into nothingness.
The Death of a King and Birth of a War
In late 1999 El Viagra Needer was assassinated under mysterious circumstances. Mexibrookia was torn apart by the loss of their beloved King. But there was little time to grieve for his death. As an investigation
into his death (that would lead no where) began, Mexibrookia turned to the task of selecting a new El Viagra Needer. As was tradition, the head priest would evaluate a nominated group of individuals
and decide who would become El Viagra Needer. However, there was a huge dispute
over which region the new Viagra Needer should be from. West Mexibrookians saw themselves slipping
back into poverty if a Middle or East Mexibrookian became Viagra Needer. The Middle and East Mexibrookians saw Mexibrookia losing all the values and ideals
it was built on if a Western Mexibrookian became Viagra Needer.
Threats were made on the lives of all the El Viagra Needer Nominees.
On the day of the evaluation two rather angry mobs showed up outside the
Ancient Temple gates. The Nominees were being guarded by a group of Shrine Keepers until time for the evaluation. The Shrine Keepers were more or less priests in training. Among
them was the young Joe Beth. As the arguing got out of hand the Shrine Keepers
tried to keep peace. A West Mexibrookian man made an attempt
to get at the Nominees. Joe Beth moved to stop the attacker. It was latter discovered that one of the priests had instructed the Shrine Keepers to use their magic to
protect the Nominees if need be (something no Shrine Keeper is ever asked to do for any reason). The attacker was killed when Joe Beth hit him with an unusually strong repellent spell. With that the crowd erupted into a violent frenzy. All the
Nominees were killed. The Mexibrookian Civil War had begun. A stunned Joe Beth had to be carried back into the Temple after going motionless from the shock of what she had just done. No Shrine
Keeper had ever before or has since had power enough to kill another human.
The Fall of the Great Temple
Middle and East Mexibrookia joined to become the Traditionalists and West Mexibrookia
became known as the Modernists. The investigation into El Viagra Needer’s
killer turned up nothing more than that the assailant may have been a modernist,
angry at his resent decision to let oil prices stay. As such the priests joined
the Traditionalists.
West Mexibrookia had better weapons and more able
bodied troops than the Traditionalists. The Traditionalists used the fighting
style they had practiced and succeeded with since the time of El Blanco. All
Mexibrookian warriors had a basic knowledge of magic at the time. Those who didn’t
took to pitch forks and the like to fight off the modernists. The warriors received
magic staffs blessed by the priests to use in battle.
The Modernists took the upper hand early in the war and bullied
their way into Middle Mexibrookia. The fighting was quickly brought right to
the proverbial front door of the Ancient Temple
itself. Hundreds of Modernists stormed the ancient temple. The few traditionalists ready for battle took up arms along side the priests. Though the priests were the most dangerous fighters in all of Mexibrookia they broke like water against
the modernist forces when the head priest was killed. The head priest was the
wisest and most powerful of all the priests. The head priest usually resided
in Delphie with the Oracle of the Gods Fred and El Viagra Pecker. He had come
to the temple to help with the war. When his blood was shed that day the other
priest’s powers faltered.
The priests fled to Delphie, leaving traditionalist forces to hold the
front line. The modernists had taken the Ancient
Temple and the fighting had stopped for now.
A new head priest had to be decided on. So the priest held trials at Delphie
to choose a new priest. When all was said and done two candidates had shown themselves
wise and strong enough to become the next head priest. As is tradition the two
would fight to the death to determine the new head priest. One of the two was
El Rojo, who had consoled El Viagra Needer on the trade situation some time ago. He
fought valiantly and used a new kind of magic that the other priest weren’t familiar with. He killed his competitor and became the new head priest in one fatal blow.
As the war continued, both sides came to a stand still. They both tried
to gain ground on the other but both sides were too stubborn to let up any more ground.
As such the priests began to take specific shrine keepers under their wing. El
Rojo took Joe Beth as his apprentice.
On the Home Front
The fighting continued and nether side showed signs of relinquishing. Both sides stubbornly believed that whatever side won the war would become the ruling
side and thus mold Mexibrookia to its ideals.
The traditionalists believed that if the modern views shinned through
then Mexibrookia would lose its morals and values and a social collapse would take place.
According to El Rojo this would lead to Mexibrookia’s eventual down fall.
Thus the fear of the end of all their beliefs, ideals, and customs fueled the traditionalists and would not let them
relent.
The modernists believed that the traditional ways were outdated, but important. They didn’t want to destroy Mexibrookia; they just wanted to be able to indulge
in modern conveniences. They wanted Mexibrookia to grow and become recognized
as an important world nation.
The modernist had also accepted a new religion. Christianity had made its way to Mexibrookia in the form of Neo-Mexibrookianism. Neo-Mexibrookianism was the belief of the Christian God and his teachings with a catch. In Neo-Mexibrookianism it was believed that mortal men and women weren’t worthy
of talking to God. As such El Viagra Pecker and Fred the God of War would act
as middle men in God’s place.
The Rodriguez Family
As modern technology takes an amount of brains to work, and Mexibrookian
women are typically smarter than the men, more and more women joined the modernist armies.
It is no surprise then that the modernists chose a matriarch to lead them. If
the modernist won this matriarch would become the new El Viagra Needer (there had never been a female Viagra Needer). Her name was Casio Rodriguez. She was
the wife of a hard working Traditionalist man name Philip Rodriguez. Philip’s
only reason for being in West
Mexibrookia was for love of his wife. It never sat well with him
that his wife was so adamantly against tradition. After a time Philip took there
son Jorge and fled back to East Mexibrookia in secret.
Shortly after they fled the modernists became discouraged. Nothing could stop the fire that seemed to be burning in the traditionalist despite the fact they were
out classed. Because no oil was being traded to West Mexibrookia
the technologies were becoming difficult to keep running. They had less fuel
to run the war machines they had manufactured. Philip and Jorge’s return
to East Mexibrookia seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the modernist’s morale.
Casio had to get her people fired up to fight. As such she began hiring bounty hunters. The idea was that
if her forces saw key traditionalist figure’s heads on a pole it would fire them up.
One such bounty hunter went by the name of Chris Beck. He was hired to
first find out what had the traditionalists so pumped. It took some doing for
Chris to blend in to the traditionalists but he did get information of El Rojo’s teachings.
Casio decided to fight fire with fire.
She constructed Neo-Mexibrookianism Churches all over West Mexibrookia. As more and more modernists heard the teachings of the Christian God they began to feel pity for the traditionalists. They believed the traditionalists needed to be saved.
The war had become, in the modernist’s eyes, a religious war. They
thought that only through fighting and ending the war could they save the traditionalists.
With that the war had become something completely different. What started as a conflict over oil prices had quickly become a bloody civil war with the Mexibrookian
way of life hanging in the balance.
Philip Rodriguez didn’t want to sell out his wife but he knew that
the information he possessed could very well end the war in the traditionalist’s favor.
He began aiding the traditionalists in their understanding of modern weaponry.
As such the traditionalist found weaknesses in the modernist’s forces.
The modernists lost ground in Middle Mexibrookia as a result. This split
Mexibrookia into almost equal halves.
Casio knew there was only one reason why the traditionalist could have
suddenly found the weaknesses. It was her husband, Philip, who she believed had
turned his back on her. She ordered Chris Beck to kill Philip and Jorge Rodriguez. Philip’s
blood was spilled by Chris Beck’s hand. Jorge, however, escaped to America. Chris was disturbed at the fact that Casio
would have her own child killed. As such he didn’t pursue him but rather
brought Casio a piece of his clothing drenched in Philip’s blood. Casio
accepted this without question. Chris left Mexibrookia and endeavored not to
return to get involved in this hellish war.
The I-Bomb and the Four Stars
The modernists had become involved in the Canadian Ice Trade. They would use this to advance their arsenal. Mexibrookians
are a warm natured people. Thanks to the Ice Trade the modernists could come
up with devastating new explosives that were hell on a Mexibrookians anatomy.
Traditionalist espionage agents got word of the development of the Ice
Bomb. Head of traditionalist forces, Senior Hugo, consulted El Rojo and the priests
on the matter. The priests believed that the ability to manipulate the weather
and environment in a hazardous way was a form of black magic. If this black magic
came to Mexibrookia then all was surely lost. They decided to put together a
Special Forces team to stop the ice bomb’s completion.
Many attempts to stop the ice bomb failed and many lives were lost. El Rojo became angry and decided to send his apprentice, Joe Beth, to capture the
plans for the ice bomb and destroy them. At this time three foreigners stepped
up to the proverbial plate. John T. Ray, Daniel Stinchcomb, and Ben Baxter (the
three remaining members of the four stars) had come to aid the traditionalists. Back
when The Four Stars were together they had been an infamous group of outlaw vigilantes.
These three had come to Mexibrookia with their good friend Jorge Rodriguez the son of Casio Rodriguez. Jorge had met them on a previous trip to America and had become friends with them.
El Rojo was excited at the fact that the latest team was shaping up rather
well. Seeing as Jorge knew West Mexibrookia, he would
guide Joe Beth, JTR, Daniel, and Ben on the mission.
In the mean time, the priests consulted the ancient scrolls at Delphie
to decide how best to deal with black magic. To their shock the scrolls had all
gone missing. This was a definite cause for investigation.
With word of the Ice Bomb spreading like a wildfire the traditionalists
began to fear for their lives. This “black magic” frightened even
the bravest of soldiers. They believed that the use of black magic would shake
the foundation of Mexibrookia to its core.
The modernists began to realize they would need more ice than was being
imported to complete the bomb. They caused quite a stir in the Ice Trade by arguing
with the Canadians to get more ice. The modernist argued that it was Canada
who had caused the economic downfall in Mexibrookia and they owed them something.
With her attention turned to the Canadian Ice Trade issue, Casio didn’t
even notice that the plans for the Ice Bomb were stolen right out from under her nose.
El Rojo’s team had completed their mission. Jorge, Joe Beth, JTR,
Daniel, and Ben brought the plans to Senior Hugo. Senior Hugo decided to build
an Ice Bomb to counteract the modernist’s bomb. The priest’s strongly
disagreed. They still believed the bomb was black magic and building one would
corrupt Mexibrookia. The question arose as to why the plans hadn’t been
destroyed by the Special Team in the first place. El Rojo announced that it was
his decision to keep the plans and gave the go ahead to Senior Hugo to begin building an Ice Bomb of their own. El Rojo hired a bounty hunter by the name of Allan Jones, and a group of smugglers to highjack modernist
ice trucks and bring them enough ice to build there bomb.
The Rebellion and the Slaughter at Delphie
JTR, Daniel, Ben, and Joe Beth went to the front line. With their guidance the traditionalists took back the ancient temple.
The area surrounding the ancient temple had become the biggest front in the war.
Though it was a dangerous place, El Rojo returned to the temple (against the other priest’s wises) to be with
his apprentice, Joe Beth.
The Four Stars returned to America to, “Take care of some business.” JTR knew a Canadian named RJ. He had
met RJ the Canadian through his ordeals in the Backyard wrestling community. He
figured RJ had enough sway to alert the Canadian Prime Minister as to what the ice being traded to Mexibrookia was being used
for.
At this point many modernists and traditionalists began to feel the war
had dragged on too long. The general Mexibrookian population began to push for
peace. They began to believe that the traditionalists and the modernists could
co-exist. However Casio, Hugo, El Rojo, and the greater portion of the traditionalist
and modernist armies believed the only way to attain perfect peace was for one or the other to be defeated.
The priests began to realize as well that the war was a useless loss of
life. They also began to push towards peace.
El Rojo wouldn’t have it. The priests were still using the Temple
of Delphie as a base of operations. They
decided that El Rojo was drunk with power. As such the priests and the greater
portion of East Mexibrookia broke away from the traditionalist to form the Rebellion. Mexibrookia was now divided into three forces. The modernists
controlled West and a portion of Middle Mexibrookia. The traditionalists controlled
a portion of Middle and East Mexibrookia, and the rebellion controlled the other portion of East
Mexibrookia.
The Canadian Government got wind of what was going on in Mexibrookia. It was against the terms of the Ice Trade for any country involved in the trade to
use the ice in the development of such a device. The ice trade to West
Mexibrookia was immediately cut off. However, it was too little too
late. The modernist had accumulated enough ice to build a single Ice Bomb. The stolen plans had only delayed the inevitable.
All the modernists had to do was find the pivotal place to strike and the traditionalists and the rebellion would crumble.
Traditionalist espionage informed El Rojo that the modernists had completed
the ice bomb and he began to panic. Out of fear he called Allan Jones out of
the ice smuggling ring. Seeing as Allan was a bounty hunter, El Rojo gave him
a new task. He was to kill Casio Rodriguez.
Allan couldn’t refuse the bounty El Rojo put on Casio’s head. As
extra insurance El Rojo put a spell on Allan’s weapons so that their touch caused the victim to become consumed with
deadly venom. Thus Allan became known as Allan “Venom” Jones.
In addition to this El Rojo declared all the other priests an enemy to
Mexibrookia for creating the rebellion. El Rojo and Joe Beth were the only remaining
clergymen loyal to the traditionalists. Senior Hugo agreed with El Rojo and allowed
him access to any number of traditionalist forces to do whatever needed to be done to end the rebellion.
El Rojo sent Joe Beth with a massive army across the Mexibrookian
River into East Mexibrookia.
They stormed the temple of Delphie
and slaughtered the priests in the biggest, bloodiest battle of the Mexibrookian Civil War.
When it was all over only one soul had survived. Joe Beth, the apprentice
of El Rojo, stood victorious amongst the bodies of slain warriors. There was
so much blood that it ran from Delphie into the Mexibrookian River
and polluted it. Allan “Venom” Jones was also successful in his mission. He penetrated modernist defenses and killed Casio Rodriguez. He brought her head back to El Rojo in a paper bag.
The Neo-Mexibrookians
The slaughter at Delphie and the death of Casio made the rebellion and
the modernists think even harder about peace. There had been too much useless
loss of life. Nothing, especially not a petty dispute over oil prices, was worth
the horrors that had happened in this war.
New modernist and rebellion representatives met and formed a peace treaty. The treaty was offered to the traditionalists, but El Rojo stubbornly refused. He would have the war end with bloodshed or not at all. The traditionalists and the rebellion joined to form the Neo-Mexibrookians.
Neo-Mexibrookian forces were divided but then again now the traditionalists were fighting on all fronts. JTR returned to East Mexibrookia to find that a treaty had been signed but that El Rojo was drunk with power. The evil tyrant had his sights set on the complete domination of Mexibrookia. JTR decided to help however he could to stop this from happening.
The Mortar Creek Witch
El Rojo and Joe Beth had hidden inside the ancient temple for some time
now. The West Neo-Mexibrookians had been giving them hell on that front. One day Joe Beth emerged from the temple with a number of warriors. She was dressed in black and silver Mexibrookian priest’s battle robes and a witch’s hat. Her only weapon was a wooden staff. But
as opposing forces soon found, through that staff she wielded a power so great that the West Neo-Mexibrookians were pushed
back almost by her alone.
Neo-Mexibrookian intelligence studied every file they could dig up on
her and learned of her mysterious past. Joe Beth was born in Mexibrookia but
was not actually a Mexibrookian. She was a Witch born of the Mexibrookian’s
deadliest enemies the Mortar Creek Witches. Joe Beth was now wielding the black
magic that was her birth right. But El Rojo had taught her Mexibrookian magic
so she was more powerful than any witch to have ever come from Mortar. Word spread
quickly that The Mortar Creek Witch had risen.
Using her black magic, the Mortar Creek Witch spread the traditionalist forces deep into the heart of the West Neo-Mexibrookian
territory and took the capital. The traditionalists now had control of the ice
bomb. Word of this spread east quickly.
The traditionalists knew nothing of how to use the ice bomb, but they were studying it to figure it out.
The Canadian Involvement
Knowing that the traditionalist would use the bomb as soon as they found
out how it was determined that a traditionalist victory was close. If the traditionalists
won the war then El Rojo would likely try to conquer more. Mexibrookia would
surely fall to the larger nations.
JTR had quickly earned the respect of the Mexibrookians on the battlefield. It was his idea to inform the Canadians of what had happened and ask for help. After the ice trade incident the Canadians were skeptical but after hearing the whole
story agreed to help. They sent a great number of troops to aid Neo-Mexibrookia. With new found strength the Neo-Mexibrookians began to push into Middle Mexibrookia. They eventually pushed the fight to the ancient temple from the east. El
Rojo, fearing defeat, developed a plan for his apprentice, The Mortar Creek Witch, to gain power. He sent her and a small number of troops on a covert mission to America. El Rojo broke part of the terms of the Montgomery Treaty between Mexibrookia and America with this move. Luckily America never found out about the secret mission. The
Mortar Witch was to return to Mortar Creek, kill all the witches there, and take their powers.
Espionage agents learned of this plan. JTR agreed to take a few Canadian
troops into America to stop the “Mortar Mission.” This was a dangerous move on the Canadian’s part because of the implications of getting caught.
Battle of the Temple and the Treaty of Delphie
The Neo-Mexibrookians were more determined now than ever to stop the traditionalists. In a last effort to end the war the Neo-Mexibrookians engaged the enemy at the ancient
temple and gained access to it. They stormed the temple and captured El Rojo. He put up a fight but he did not leave the temple alive. With the loss of El Rojo the traditionalist forces began to dwindle.
Senior Hugo was the only force still driving the traditionalists.
The two missions to Mortar Creek were both a success and a failure. The Mortar Creek Witch killed all the other witches and drained them of their power. She had become the most powerful witch ever. However her warriors
were defeated by JTR and the Canadian troops. Many Canadians lost their lives
in that secret mission. JTR and the witch fought in an amazing duel of fate. When it was all over JTR stood battered and beaten but victorious. The Mortar Creek Witch was captured.
The traditionalists were suffering great losses when JTR and his team
returned with the witch. Senior Hugo surrendered at the Battle of the Coliseum
of Fred and agreed to sign a peace treaty.
The Treaty of Delphie was signed at the temple
of Delphie in East Mexibrookia. It gave control of West Mexibrookia back to the modernists and Middle and East
Mexibrookia back to the traditionalists. West, Middle, and East
Mexibrookia would be split into provinces. Each would have a “governor”
that would speak in his people’s interest to El Viagra Needer.
Because of his efforts in the war Jorge Rodriguez was given a Mexibrookian
Metal of Honor.
The Mortar Creek Witch was locked away in the dungeons of Delphie and
sexually tortured. After three years of this she escaped and returned to Mortar
Creek. For the longest time she was an old hermit. She lived off hard potatoes, Alligator Gars, and small children.
Because of her sexual torturing she was driven by her sexuality and forced to mate daily. This would eventually lead to her daughter, Cassidy Witch, being born.
JTR was commended for his efforts in the war shortly before his return
to America. He
would return to Mexibrookia on a number of occasions to visit his friend Jorge, and to learn about the crazy place that Mexibrookia
is.
Senior Hugo became a shrine keeper and eventually worked his way up to
priest. The Mexibrookian priests are starting to grow in number. They once again are becoming keepers of the peace. Hopefully
that peace will be kept for a long time to come.
